“Excellence Happens on Purpose.”
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Kerr-Vance Academy, a vibrant community of learners in the heart of Vance County, North Carolina. Whether you are a prospective family, a returning visitor, or a curious mind exploring what makes our school unique, I am thrilled you're here.
Since our founding in 1968, Kerr-Vance Academy has remained steadfast in its mission: to prepare students for college with a future as adults contributing to our community. For nearly 60 years, our school has served as a beacon of educational excellence, fostering a tradition of academic rigor, personal growth, and community engagement. We are proud to have maintained a 100% graduation rate—a reflection of our dedicated faculty, supportive families, and most importantly, our hard-working and talented students.
At KVA, we believe that education is more than just preparation for college—though we do that exceptionally well. As a college preparatory institution, our graduates consistently earn admission to their top-choice colleges and universities, with scholarship awards averaging over $126,000 per graduate. But our greatest success lies in shaping graduates who are not only ready for academic challenges but also equipped for meaningful, flourishing lives.
Our core values—High Expectations, Student Engagement, Relentless Curiosity, Compassion, and Citizenship—are woven into every aspect of the KVA experience. From our small class sizes to our supportive campus culture, we strive to nurture each child’s full potential. Our students are known, seen, and celebrated from 18-months old through 12th grade, growing in an environment that values both intellectual growth and character development.
As you explore our website and learn more about our programs, I invite you to picture what’s possible for your child at KVA. I encourage you to reach out, schedule a visit, and connect with our dedicated team. Come see how Kerr-Vance Academy can help your student thrive—academically, socially, and in character.
The future is here, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
Warmly,
Matthew McLaughlin
Head of School
